City of Adelaide Pipe Band

South Australia

Learn to Play Bagpipes and Drums

The City of Adelaide Pipe Band offers musical tuition to young people who would like to join the band. Tuition is available for bagpipes, snare drum, tenor drum and bass drum.

The band aims to foster, encourage and develop piping and drumming by example and teaching. For a pipe band to flourish, a steady stream of learners is needed, and to this end, the band treats the teaching of beginners with the highest level of importance.

The City of Adelaide Pipe Band learners programme has been developed and refined over a number of years to ensure that each student receives thorough tuition of the highest quality, where proper technique and methods are a focus. Each of the band's tutors is either a current, or former City of Adelaide Pipe Band contest piper or drummer.

As learners progress through the COAPB structured learning program they have the opportunity to perform with the band to further develop their band skills before progressing on to the senior band.

Learner's classes and pipe band practices are held at the Prospect RSL Memorial Hall, Willcox Street, Prospect (adjacent Prospect Oval, see map below).
